Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Utvrditi i usporediti procjenu promišljanja o suicidu kod osoba oboljelih od mentalnih poremećaja s osobama oboljelih od malignih novotvorina. Utvrditi postoji li povezanost medicinske dijagnoze, želje za ostvarenjem pokušaja suicida između spola i dobi ispitanika. Ispitanici i metode: U istraživanju su sudjelovale dvije skupine bolesnika; bolesnici koji se liječe na Kliničkom odjelu onkologije te koji se liječe na Klinici za psihijatriju. Za potrebe istraživanje korištena je medicinska dokumentacija za dobivanje podataka o spolu i dobi bolesnika te medicinska dijagnoza. Za podatke o suicidalnosti korištena je Skala za procjenu rizika prisutnosti suicidalnih promišljanja koja sadrži 19 tvrdnji s tri ponuđena odgovora. Rezultati: Istraživanjem je utvrđeno kako postoji statistički značajna razlika u odgovorima ispitanika sa psihijatrije i onkologije s obzirom na stavove o životu, smrti, promišljanjima o suicidu, učestalosti suicidalnih misli. Zaključujemo kako bolesnici oboljeli od mentalnih bolesti češće imaju suicidalna promišljanja, a samim time i veći stupanj suicidalnosti nego bolesnici oboljeli od malignih oboljenja. Uočeno je kako ne postoji statistički značajna razlika u stavovima ispitanika za promatrane odgovore s obzirom na dob i spol. Iako statistički nije značajno, ustanovljena je razlika između stavova ispitanika za promatrane odgovore s obzirom na psihijatrijsku dijagnozu (depresija, PTSP, shizofrenija); depresivni bolesnici češće imaju suicidalna promišljanja. Zaključak: Onkološki bolesnici unatoč teškoj dijagnozi, često i smrtonosnoj manje imaju suicidalna promišljanja i želju za počinjenjem suicida naspram bolesnika oboljelih od mentalnih poremećaja. Nužno je organizirati i provoditi kvalitetnije zdravstveno prosvjećivanje o prevenciji suicidalnog ponašanja s ciljem redukcije stope suicida na što nižu razinu.
Abstract (english)
Objectives: To determine and compare suicidal ideation between patients with mental disorder and oncology patients. Another objective is to determine if there are any connections between medical diagnosis, suicide attempts realization and the gender and the age of the participants. Methods and participants: Two groups of patients participated in this study; patients treated at the Clinical Oncology Department and psychiatric patients treated at the Clinic for Psychiatry. Medical documentation was used to obtain age and gender information, as well as the medical diagnosis. I also used The Scale of Suicidal Ideation, which contains 19 statements with three response options. Results: Research showed that there is a statistically significant difference in the responses of psychiatric and oncology patients considering life and death attitudes, suicidal deliberations and frequency of suicidal thoughts. Psychiatric patients more often have suicidal thoughts, and consequently a higher degree of suicide than cancer patients. It was found that there was no statistically significant difference between the attitudes of respondents to the observed responses regarding age and gender. Although not statistically significant, there is a difference between the attitudes of respondents to the observed responses considering their psychiatric diagnosis (depression, PTSD, schizophrenia); depressed patients more often have suicidal thoughts. Conclusion: Despite the difficult diagnosis (very often, deadly), oncology patients have less suicidal thoughts and less desire to commit suicide compared to patients with mental disorders. It is necessary to organize and implement the best possible health education to prevent suicidal behavior in order to reduce suicide rates at the lowest possible level.
