AIM: The objectives of the research were to examine the level and the incidence of examination anxiety among medical students from first to sixth year of study and the level of anxiety in relation to the sociodemographic characteristics of the respondents. Study design: cross-sectional study Respondents and Methods: A total of 200 first to sixth year students of medicine at the Faculty of Medicine in Osijek participated in the research. Data were collected through an online survey query consisting of sociodemographic data and a questionnaire for testing examination anxiety, Cognitive Test Anxiety Scale – 2nd Edition (CTAS-2). Results: According to the results 27 (13,5 %) respondents had high exam anxiety and 96 (48%) had moderate exam anxiety. There are no significant differences in reduction of respondents according to the level of exam anxiety in relation to gender and academic achievement. Significantly higher level of exam anxiety is noticed in students in the second and third year of study, while a low level is noticed in students in the sixth year of study. Respondents, who have repeated a year of study and with a personal history of mental illness, have significantly more expressed high levels of anxiety. Conclusion: Most students show moderate level of exam anxiety. A high level of test anxiety is observed in students in the second and third year of study, students, who have repeated a year of study and students with a personal history of mental illness show high level of examination anxiety.
