Abstract | CILJ ISTRAŽIVANJA: Ispitati prehrambeni unos joda u mlađih odraslih osoba, odrediti
koncentraciju joda u urinu u mlađih odraslih osoba, ispitati povezanost koncentracije joda i upalnih
obilježja, ispitati povezanost koncentracije joda i tjelesne kompozicije te ispitati povezanost
koncentracije joda i antropometrijskih obilježja.
NACRT STUDIJE: Presječno istraživanje.
ISPITANICI I METODE: U istraživanju su bile uključene mlađe odrasle osobe oba spola u dobi
joda.
REZULTATI: U istraživanju je sudjelovalo 70 ispitanika. Medijan koncentracije joda u urinu
iznosi 120,77 µg/L, a prehrambeni unos joda je medijana 624,66 µg. Medijan indeksa tjelesne mase
je 23,72 kg/m2
. Tjelesna kompozicija koja uključuje postotak mišićnog i masnog tkiva je medijana
32,6 % za mišićno tkivo i 27,4 % za masno tkivo. Medijan opsega struka iznosi 75,5 cm, a opsega
nadlaktice 27,8 cm.
značajna povezanost koncentracije joda u urinu s upalnim i antropometrijskim obilježjima i
tjelesnom kompozicijom. |
Abstract (english) | OBJECTIVS: To examine the dietary intake of iodine in young adults, to determine the
concentration of iodine in urine in young adults, to examine the relationship between iodine
concentration and inflammatory features, to examine the relationship between iodine concentration
and body composition, and to examine the relationship between iodine concentration and
anthropometric characteristics.
STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional study.
PARTICIPANTS AND METHODS: Young adults between the ages of 19 and 24, of both sexes,
were included in the study. The sample size is 70, of which 35 are men and 35 are women. Exclusion
criteria were iodine metabolism disorder and diagnosed thyroid disease. Inflammatory and
anthropometric characteristics, body composition, iodine concentration in urine and dietary iodine
intake were analyzed.
RESULTS: 70 subjects participated in the research. The median iodine concentration in urine is
120,77 µg/L, and the median dietary iodine intake is 624,66 µg. The median body mass index is
23,72 kg/m2
. Body composition, which includes the percentage of muscle and fat tissue, is a median
of 32,6 % for muscle tissue and 27,4 % for fat tissue. The median waist circumference is 75,5 cm,
and the median upper arm circumference is 27,8 cm. The median neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio
has a value of 1,5. No significant association was observed between iodine concentration in urine
and any measured parameter.
CONCLUSION: The subjects of this research have an excessive dietary iodine intake. The
subjects have a concentration of iodine in their urine that corresponds with sufficient intake. No
significant correlation of iodine concentration in urine with inflammatory and anthropometric
characteristics and body composition was found. |
