Abstract
Uvod: Derivati ferocena potencijalno mogu imati veliku antioksidativnu aktivnost koja se mjeri DPPH metodom te bi se mogli koristiti u liječenju bolesti uzrokovanih ROS-om. Cilj: Ispitati antioksidativni potencijal derivata ferocena, utvrditi povezanost između strukture i antioksidativnog potencijala derivata ferocena te definirati supstanciju koja ima najveći antioksidativni potencijal. Materijali i metode: 18 derivata ferocena ispitivanih pomoću DPPH metode koja određuje antioksidativni potencijal tako da se radikal DPPH neutralizira antioksidansom i dolazi do promjene boje koja se mjeri spektrofotometrijski pri 518 nm. Rezultati: Najveći postotak „scavenging-a“ pokazuju derivati XI-12, XI-24 i XI-26, a najmanji XI-5, XI-27 i XI-34 zbog razlika u strukturi i topljivosti u vodi. Zaključak: Svi derivati pokazuju antioksidativni učinak koji ovisi o strukturi i topljivosti samog derivata.
Abstract (english)
Introduction: Derivatives of ferrocene show potentially high antioxidant activity, which is measured with DPPH method and could be used in treating ROS-induced diseases. Objective: The aim of this study was to test the antioxidant potential of ferrocene derivatives, to establish the connection between structure and antioxidant potential of ferrocene derivatives and to define the substance which has the highest antioxidant potential. Materials and Methods: 18 ferrocene derivatives were tested with DPPH method, which defines the antioxidant potential by neutralizing DPPH radical with antioxidant and thus changes colour, and is measured at 518 nm by spectrophotometry. Results: Highest percentage of scavenging was shown in XI-12, XI-24 and XI-26 derivatives, while in XI-5, XI-27 and XI-34 it was the lowest; because of differences in structure and solubility in water. Conclusion: All derivatives show antioxidant effect, which varies due to structure and solubility.
