Objectives: to examine how informed patients are about their health condition, how did they get these informations and how satisfied they are with the informations they got. Also determine whether there is a difference in the amount of information a patient gets and the amount of informations he expects to receive, considering his/her age, gender and educational level. Study design: Sectional research Participants and Methods: The research included a total of 70 patients aged 18 to 82 with the proviso that they were hospitalized for at least 3 days. The data were collected by an anonymous questionnaire at the Surgery Clinic in KBC Osijek. Results: The participants are generally satisfied with the claims considering the doctor-patient category. Most participants agreed that they did not understand the professional language the doctor used to communicate with them. Written information is poorly used which can be seen when analysing the results, but there is a gender difference because more women read the written material they received during their hospitalization. According to their answers, doctor is the person who gave them the most informations. Of all age groups, the most dissatisfaction showed the age group of 50 to 65 years old patients. Globally, participants are satisfied with the level of information they receive. Conclusion: Research results show that patients are informed about their health condition which means that health professionals work accuratly. The number of written materials should be increased and patients should be encouraged to read those papers and conceive them seriously.
