Objective: The aim of this study is to determine whether the awareness of patients and positive approach of the medical staff affect patient's feeling of discomfort and pain during EMNG examination. Study outline: The research was prospective, conducted at the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek in the Laboratory for electromyoneurography. Participants and methods: The research included patients referred to electromyoneurography at the Clinic of Neurology at the CHC Osijek. There were 100 patients of both sexes included in the research. Specifically designed survey was used to gather the dana. The questionnaire consisted of 31 question, 7 of which were to get the demographic data, 6 were designed to be answered before the examination, and 8 after. These questions were concerned with the patents' awareness and approach of the medical staff. The questionnaire for evaluating staff and patients' awareness consisted of 10 questions and was a Likert-type one with evaluation marks ranging from 1 to 5 (1 – absolutely not; 5 – absolutely yes) Results: The results show that participants were mostly aware of the nature of the examination. Grand total evaluation mark for the attentiveness of the staff was 5. Most patients described they felt comfortable during the examination. The staff was described as trusting and attentive. The pain level after the examination dropped from 4 out of 7 (before the examination) to 3 out of 7. Conclusion: The analysis of the results showed positive correlation between the patients' awareness and the examination, as well as positive approach, attentiveness and support of the medical staff. Furthermore, the feeling of trust between patients and staff also affects positively the examination and lowers the feeling of pain and discomfort of patients.
