Research aim: To explore the presence of burnout syndrome among students. To determine the link between burnout syndrome and student engagement and examine whether there is a difference in the intensity of burnout syndrome and student engagement in relation to demographic indicators: study, year of study, place of residence and manner of study funding. Subjects and methods: Subjects were students of the first, second and third year of University Undergraduate Nursing Study and Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study of Medicine. Research instrument used in the study were the standardized MBI-SS questionnaires and UWES by Schaufeli, W.B. Results: It is confirmed that only students of the first year of Medicine have burnout syndrome detected, as indicated by the results of the subscales: high levels of cynicism (98.3%), high levels of emotional exhaustion (85%) and low academic efficiency (38.3%). Students of Nursing have high levels of emotional exhaustion on the subscales during the first three years of studying, and cynical attitude towards the Study is present at most with students of nursing (84.5%). The link between burnout syndrome and work engagement was found in the components of busyness and energy, busyness and commitment, and between commitment and energy. The highest level of cynicism and the highest level of work engagement were found with first year Medicine students at 59 (98.3%). Academic efficiency is highest in the 2nd year of Medicine 34 (49.3%). The work engagement is significantly higher with students of Medicine. The level of cynicism, energy and busyness is highest for students living in student dormitories. The level of emotional exhaustion and cynicism is highest for self-funded subjects. The level of busyness is significantly higher for the 2nd and 3rd year of Nursing with respect to the 1st year. Conclusion: It was found that students in the first year of medicine have been diagnosed with combustion syndrome. Students of Nursing have the highest value of cynicism towards the Study. Burnout syndrome and work engagement are related. The difference between the students of the Medicine is that they have a higher level of engagement than the Nursing students, and the level of cynicism, energy and busyness is highest for those living in student dormitories. Emotional exhaustion and cynicism occur in those who are self-funded.
