Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the number of adenocarcinoma in the researched period, the number of adenocarcinoma with positive ALK mutations and the number of adenocarcinoma with positive EGFR mutation. Study design: A retrospective study Material and Methods: The study included participants with a diagnosis of lung adenocarcinoma (32 men and 23 women), tested for ALK and EGFR mutations at the Molecular diagnostic laboratory of the Clinical institute for pathology and judicial medicine of Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek. ALK mutation was determined by immunohistochemistry and EGFR mutation by molecular analysis (PCR). Results: There were 55 diagnosed lungs adenocarcinoma on 36 cytological samples and 19 histological samples. Tumour tissue was isolated in 50 cases of primary tumour and in 5 cases of metastasis. EGFR testing was also performed on cytological and histological samples. In tumour tissue there was only one positive finding of EGFR mutations (1/55 cases or 1.8%). ALK testing was performed only on histological samples (13 men and 6 women). There was only one positive finding of ALK mutation (1/19 cases or 5.3%). Conclusions: In the population of patients with diagnosed lungs adenocarcinoma tested on EGFR and ALK mutation in Clinical Hospital Centre Osijek and it was found surprisingly small part of patients with EGFR mutations and the usual proportion of patients with ALK mutations. We need to be cautious with the interpreting of the results because of the small number of participants.
