Objectives: To quantify and to compare the expression of estrogen receptors (ER), leptin receptors (ObR), insulin receptors (IR) and proliferation marker Ki - 67 in the control uterine tissue and the endometrial cancer tissue. To determine the level of expression of the three above mentioned receptors in the control uterine tissue and the endometrial cancer tissue by using immunohistochemical method and Western Blot method. Study Design: Retrospective matched pair study. Participants and Methods: The study includes 10 specimens of control uterine tissues and 10 specimens of the endometrial cancer tissues. The average age of the control group was 54,3 years, while the average age of those with endometrial cancer was 66,05. The fixed specimens were sliced in microtome-cryostat to 10μm thick slices and mounted to gelatin-coated slide glass. The fixed and sliced tissues were immunohistochemically stained to estrogen receptors, leptin receptors and insulin receptors. Prepared mount slides were taken picture of with a camera connected to optical microscope. The pictures were than analyzed by FIJI software. The level of the expression of the mentioned receptors was compared with the expression of Ki-67 marker in the same tissues. Western Blot method was used to analyze the non-fixed, homogenized tissue for the consistence of ER, ObR and IR. The results were analyzed by ImageLab software. Hematoxylin and eosin (HE) stain was conducted as well. Results: The results of immunohistochemical analysis did not show statistically relevant difference in the expression of ObR, IR and ER between control uterine tissue and the endometrial cancer tissue. Statistically relevant difference in the expression of ObR between control uterine tissue and the endometrial cancer tissue was obtained by Western Blot method. Conclusion: The expression of ObR is higher in the endometrial cancer tissue while the expression of IR and ER is not.
