Objectives: Objectives were to examine the etiological aspects of difficulties with adherence to chronic therapy during the COVID-19 pandemic, and to examine the relationship between data on COVID-19 and adherence and to examine the relationship between adherence to chronic therapy with chronic disease and demographic and socioeconomic indicators. Study Design: The survey is designed as a cross-sectional survey. Participants and methods: The survey in family medicine practice and the online Google form included 173 respondents who suffer from one or more chronic diseases. The survey questionnaire consisted of a series of questions that included demographic, socioeconomic, and targeted indicators to determine adherence to chronic therapy. A validated MMAS (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire was also included in the survey. Results: High adherence was demonstrated in 56, partial in 52, and low in 65 subjects in this study. The availability of public transport (p = 0.008), adherence to a certain therapeutic scheme (p = 0.002), the method of picking up the drug in the pharmacy (p = 0.007) proved to be statistically significant indicators of adherence. Other factors investigated in this study did not show this association. COVID status of the disease had no effect on adherence to chronic therapy. None of the studied comorbidities showed a significant difference in adherence. Conclusion: The patient's habits related to adherence to the treatment regimen in chronic disease, as well as the habit of self-medication, proved to be a positive determinant in adherence to chronic therapy. Impact of the disease COVID-19 had no effect on adherence to chronic therapy in this study because most patients had access to a doctor by other means (telephone, e-mail...) and were able to maintain chronic therapy with the help of others. No significant difference in adherence was found with respect to the type of chronic disease.
