Study objectives: The goal of the study is to examine the oppinion of first and sixth year medical students on whooping cough vaccination and to evaluate their vaccination status. Study design: The research follows the principle of cross-sectional study. Participants and methods: This study had 119 participants made of first and sixth year medical students of Faculty od medicine Osijek. Results were collected via an anonymous poll in period between April and May 2024, where sociodemographic dana, knowledge about whooping cough infection, vaccination status and oppinion on pertussis vaccination and vaccination in general were collected. Study results: Significantly less examinees in the 1st year of study are vaccinated or do not know if they have been vaccinated and 20.6 % of students in the 1st year of study have not heard of whooping cough infection, while all student sin the 6. year have heard of whooping cough. Students in the 6th year, compared to the students of the 1st year, significantly more agree with the statements: that they are worried about the possibility of a re-emergence of the whooping cough epidemic and other diseases eradicated by vaccination, reluctance to vaccinate is a great threat to the health of the population. Students in the 1st year, compared to the 6th year, agree significantly more with the statements that they are worried about the possible longterm consequences that vaccines can have, which have not yet been discovered, vaccines are dangerous for the child's health because they contain harmful substances such as aluminum and mercury in large quantities, and that the vaccines in the mandatory vaccination calendar are unnecessary, because we vaccinate against diseases that no longer exist in our area. Conclusions: First-year students do not have much confidence in vaccines, in contrast to sixthyear students who have a more positive attitude towards vaccination and fear the possibility of vaccine-eradicated disease pandemics. More students in the first year have not or do not know if they have been vaccinated against whooping cough, unlike their colleagues in the sixth year.
