Objectives of the research: The objectives of the research were to compare the incidence of psychosomatic diseases with respect to body systems, to compare subjects with respect to the total number of psychosomatic symptoms and to examine the relationship between the occurrence of psychosomatic symptoms depending on the year of studying. Draft of the study: Cross-sectional research. Examinees and methods: A total of 132 students from 1st to 6th year of integrated undergraduate and graduate study of medicine at Faculty of Medicine in Osijek participated in the research. An anonymous online survey questionnaire was created for this research and used as a research instrument. The first part refers to demographic data regarding gender, year of study, and family and personal anamnesis. The second questionnaire refers to frequency of psychosomatic symptoms and their impact on daily activities in the last 3 months. It is consisted of a table with listed psychosomatic symptoms and two scales. In the first scale from 1 to 4 (never, several times a month, several times a week and every day) the examinee determines how often he experienced the symptom. The second table determines how much it interfered with his daily activities, with a scale from 1 to 3 (not at all, moderately and strongly). Results: A measurable level of frequency of psychosomatic symptoms and levels of disturbance in daily life were observed, especially in the gastrointestinal domain, pain / weakness domain and cardiovascular domain. More students had an above-average number of symptoms in comparison to the students with the average number of symptoms. The frequency of the psychosomatic symptoms is equal at lower and higher years of study. Conclusion: The frequency of psychosomatic symptoms is equal in lower and higher years of medical studies at Faculty of Medicine in Osijek.
