Objectives: To examine the outcome of rehabilitation on a sample of 60 patients who survived the first stroke and carried out rehabilitation at the "Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek" in Bizovac. Study design: Cross-sectional study Participants and methods: Research conducted on patients suffering from the first (acute) stroke, who were admitted to "Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek" for rehabilitation due to the consequent backward functional deficit. The expected size of the sample is 60 patients, whose rehabilitation lasted 21 days and was carried out in the period from 1.1.2021. to 31.12.2021, and the diagnosis of acute stroke was proven by previously performed diagnostic evaluating at the Nerology Clinic of the Clinical Hospital Center Osijek. Results: More common type of stroke is ischemic stroke, compared to the hemorrhagic type of stroke. The Barthel index, i.e. the ability to perform activities of daily living, is significantly higher at discharge, compared to admission after stroke in patients aged 60 years and older, while in younger patients there is no significant difference. The degree of motor deficit at discharge, assessed by the modified Rankin scale, is lower compared to admission after stroke in patients aged 50 years and older. 7 % of patients had a complete recovery. Continuation of rehabilitation is recommended in 93 % of cases. Conclusion: Rehabilitation during period of 21 day enabled patients who had suffered a stroke to increase their quality of life, primarily in the older age groups, as indicated by the better results of the Barthel index and the modified Rankin scale at discharge compared to admission
