Objectives: To examine the frequency of Sarcoptes scabiei mite infestations in KBC Osijek over a three-year period. The goal is to show the most important epidemiological characteristics of these infestations and to examine whether there is a difference in the distribution of infestations by age and gender. Study Design: The research is organized as a cross-sectional study Participants and Methods: The research includes 232 patients whose samples were analyzed for suspected infestation caused by Sarcoptes scabiei in the period from May 18, 2020 to December 31, 2023 at the Department of Clinical Microbiology and Hospital Infections of the Clinic for infectology of KBC Osijek. Data from the Institute's archive and electronic database were used, including the number of samples, gender and age of the patients. Results: There are no significant differences in the distribution of examination results in relation to the gender and age of patients in the observed period, however there is a significant difference in the distribution of examination results in relation to age groups. Conclusion: In the examined period, there was a decrease in the frequency of Sarcoptes scabiei infestations. The results showed that there are no significant differences in the distribution of infestations according to gender, which corresponds to the conducted research. A significant difference in age groups is expected because older people and children more often suffer from Sarcoptes scabiei infestations.
