Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the frequency of influenza during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and to determine the impact of public health measures on reducing influenza incidence. Study design: The study was conducted as a retrospective analysis. Participants and methods: Data were collected from healthcare institutions, including reported cases of influenza, and compared with data from previous flu seasons. Descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze the frequency of influenza and its connection with public health measures. Results: The results show a significant reduction in the frequency of influenza during the pandemic seasons, which can be linked to the implementation of COVID-19 containment measures, such as mask-wearing, social distancing, and hand hygiene. After the relaxation of these measures, a gradual increase in influenza incidence was observed in the 2022/2023 season, although the number of cases has yet to return to pre-pandemic levels. A decrease in flu vaccinations during the pandemic was also noted, which could increase the risk of severe influenza cases in future seasons. Conclusion: The study showed a significant decrease in the incidence of influenza during the COVID-19 pandemic due to public health measures. After the measures were eased, the number of influenza cases increased, but did not reach pre-pandemic levels. The highest incidence of influenza was recorded in the age groups 7-14 and 1-4 years, while women were older than men in all age groups.
