Abstract
Cilj istraživanja: Imunohistokemijski usporediti pojavnost estrogenskih beta receptora u tumorskim stanicama trostruko negativnog karcinoma dojke i u ostalim karcinomima dojke. Nacrt studije: Retrospektivna studija. Ispitanici i metode: Istraživanje je provedeno na 30 uzoraka tumorskog tkiva pacijentica kod kojih je dijagnosticiran trostruko negativni karcinom dojke i 30 uzoraka tumorskog tkiva ostalih karcinoma dojke. Imunohistokemijska izraženost ER određivana je semikvantitativno, uključujući postotak pozitivno obojenih stanica i intenzitet bojenja: 0 (negativno), 1+ (do 10 % pozitivnih tumorskih stanica), 2+ (11 30 % tumorskih stanica), 3+ (31 % i više pozitivnih tumorskih stanica). Rezultati: Nema statistički značajne povezanosti ekspresije ER s dobi bolesnica (p = 0,981), s veličinom primarnog tumora (p = 0,753), sa stupnjem diferencijacije tumorskog tkiva (p = 0,919) i s postojanjem metastaza u pazušnim limfnim čvorovima (p = 0,807). Ekspresija ER u trostruko negativnom karcinomu dojke povezana je ili s niskim ili s vrlo visokim mitotskim indeksom (p = 0,002), a u kontrolnoj skupini isključivo s niskim mitotskim indeksom. ER je bio izražen u svim promatranim slučajevima obje skupine (trostruko negativna i kontrolna skupina). Ako se promatra stupanj ekspresije ER u skupini trostruko negativnog karcinoma dojke i u kontrolnoj skupini, opaža se izraženija ekspresija ER u kontrolnoj skupini (p = 0,038). Zaključak: Udio tumora pozitivnih na ER u trostruko negativnih karcinoma dojke (100 %) upućuje na mogući pozitivan učinak hormonske ili druge ciljane terapije u toj skupini raka dojke.
Abstract (english)
Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the incidence of estrogen receptor beta in the tumor cells, triple negative breast cancer and other breast cancers via imunohistochemical staining protocol. Study Design: A retrospective study Material and Methods: The study was conducted on 30 samples of tumor tissue of patients with triple negative breast cancer tests and 30 samples of tumor tissue of other breast cancers. Immunohistochemical expression of ER was determined semi-quantitatively, including the percentage of positively stained cells and the intensity of staining: 0 (negative), 1+ (10% positive tumor cells), 2+ (11 30% tumor cells), 3+ (31% and more positive tumor cells). Results: Statistically significant correlation of ER expression with patients' age (p = 0.981), the size of primary tumor (p = 0.753), the degree of differentiation of tumor tissue (p = 0.919) and with the existence of metastases in axillary lymph nodes (p = 0.807) was not found. ER expression in triple negative breast cancer is associated with either low or very high mitotic index (p = 0.002), while it is associated only with low mitotic index in the control group. ER was expressed in all cases observed, in both groups (triple negative and control group). When both groups are compared, ER expression is more pronounced in the control group (p = 0.038). Conclusion: The percentage of ER positive tumor in triple negative breast cancer (100%) indicates the possible beneficial effect of hormone, or other targeted therapies in this group of breast cancer patients.
