Abstract
Uvod Istraživanje je provedeno na Medicinskom fakultetu Sveučilišta J.J. Strossmayera u Osijeku i obuhvatilo je strukturalnu, geometrijsku i biomehaničku analizu 46 uzoraka štitnih hrskavica iz arhivske zbirke Zavoda za anatomiju. Klinički i morfološki značaj štitne hrskavice rezultirao je interesom za definiranje objektivnih morfoloških i mehaničkih karakteristika štitne hrskavice. Materijali i metode Provedena je morfometrijska analiza, a mjereni su parametri zadani antropometrijskim obilježjima štitne hrskavice, a na osnovu dijela njih provedena je klasifikacija štitnih hrskavica. Mineralna gustoća štitnih hrskavica određena je na istom uzorku računalnim metodama i metodom žarenja uzoraka štitnih hrskavica u laboratorijskoj peći, uz prethodno određen volumen Arhimedovim principom. Žilavost je određena posebno konstruiranim uređajem za lom štitnih hrskavica. Rezultati Morfometrijskom analizom dobili smo podatke o prosječnim dimenzijama štitne hrskavice i utvrdili kako je ženska štitna hrskavica prosječno manja u svim definiranim dimenzijama, osim tiroidnog kuta. Na osnovi morfometrijskih pokazatelja hrskavice smo klasificirali kao simetrične i asimetrične te kao konvergentne i divergentne ovisno o usmjerenju gornjih rogova. Mjerenjem mineralne gustoće štitne hrskavice i metodom žarenja utvrdili smo da mineralizacija raste sa životnom dobi zbog osifikacije kao degenerativnog procesa, ali opada u najstarijoj dobnoj skupini prateći opći trend osteoporoze. Također, utvrdili smo da su ženske štitne hrskavice prosječno manje gustoće od muških. Konvergentne te hrskavice koje su pucale složenim načinom bile su prosječno jače mineralizirane. Mjerenjem žilavosti nismo utvrdili statistički značajnu razliku ovisno o dobi i spolu, ali su hrskavice starije dobi i 63 muškog spola imale nešto veću prosječnu žilavost. Međutim, utvrđena je statistički značajno veća žilavost u hrskavica koje su pucale jednostavnim načinom. Zaključak Na osnovi dobivenih rezultata definirali smo standardne dimenzijske pokazatelje o objektivizirali morfološke tipove štitnih hrskavica. Na osnovi mineralizacije i žilavosti dobili smo saznanja o mehaničkim karakteristikama štitne hrskavice. Utvrdili smo da na žilavost štitne hrskavice pored mineralne gustoće utječu i drugi čimbenici te da štitna hrskavica starenjem pokazuje degenerativne promjene u smislu osifikacije i osteoporoze.
Abstract (english)
Introduction The research was conducted at Faculty of Medicine University J.J. Strossmayer in Osijek and included structural, geometrical and biomechanical analysis of 46 thyroid cartilage samples from archive collection of Department of anatomy. Our interest is based on forensic and clinical importance of the thyroid cartilage so we defined objective morphological and mechanical charateristics. Materials and methods The morphometriy analysis was conducted, and thyroid cartilage was classified accorting to thyroid cartilage antropometric features. Thyroid cartilage mineral density was determined by conputer methods and method of slow heating in laboratory furnace. The toughness was set using the specially designed machine tor thyroid cartilage fracture. Results On the base of morphometric analysis we defined that the female thyroid cartilages are smaller in all dimensions, except thyroid angle. According to morphometric dana we have classified thyroid cartilages as symetric and asymetric, and also as convergent and divergent based on direction of upper horns. By measuring thyroid cartilage mineral density we have determined that mineralisation is increasing by age according to ossification as degenerative process, but is decreasing in elder because of the osteoporosis. Female thyroid cartilages are on average on lower density than male thyroid cartilage. Convergent and cartilages that fracture in complex mean are on average more mineralized. We determined thate there is no significant difference in toughness of thyroid cartilage according to age and sex, but elder and male cartilages have slightly higher toughness. There was statistically signifiganct higher toughness in cartilages that fractured in simple mean. 65 Conclusion According to the results we defined standard dimensions and morphological types of the thyroid cartilage. On the base of mineral density and toughness we defined biomechanical characteristic of thyroid cartilage. We determined that there are other parameters influencing toughness of thyroid cartilage besides mineral density, and that there are degenerative changes, in ways of ossification and osteoporosis, in aging thyroid cartilage.
